It is nice that these cars are featured in a museum. This has to be a labour of love!
It’s always fun to see what creative artists are up to these days. Fun, whimsical artwork and more serious pieces are seen everywhere. Large up-cycled scrap sculptures and table top artwork adorn our homes and businesses alike. Let’s take a look at some of the newest scrap metal art made from old, scrap cars, toasters and old stoves. Ingenious, creative people see art in everything. Where did the Mustang get its start? It was a style. It was a price that almost anyone could afford.
The production Mustang was shown to the public for the first time inside the Ford Pavilion at the New York World’s Fair on April 17, 1964 — two months and nine days after the Beatles first came to New York to appear on The Ed Sullivan Show. published by www.edmunds.com
The Mustang started as a 4 cylinder two seater. But, the style was akin to a corvette. -Low seat and longer hood made the Mustang sporty. We started to get all the sports car features with sedan prices. Everyone liked the design. In the beginning, the Mustang started as standard three-speed transmissions. In 1964, Ford made the Mustang V-8 engine that outsold their other Mustangs by 3 to one. 1965 was Oscar year for the Mustang. That’s when Carroll Shelby at Ford built over-sized front disc brakes and tires, 15-inch wheels, fiberglass hood and the list goes on. In my heart, I believe Shelby build this car to go road racing against the Corvette. What Ford did was brilliant.

It was never to be repeated–until now-2016. Emissions regulations made the high-compression, high-horsepower V-8s unsustainable. It appeared that an era had ended forever. Baby boomers started to turn towards gas efficient, compact cars. In later years, new grills, fuel injection, shorter chassis came along as the Mustang sustained its position at Ford. 1994 was clearly influenced by the styling themes of Mustangs past. Thegalloping horsewas back on the grille! The following year -in 1995, I drove a white, V-8, 5-litre engine, Ford Mustang (similar the the 1975 model). I missed the old Mustang! With little effort it would corner like a bolt of lightning. When I needed repairs, the mechanics would be beaming every time I walked in the door. Today, the Mustang’s interior is also reminiscent of the Mustang’s glory days ( 1967-’68 Mustang) I guess it is fair to say that the Mustang is a car for all times. Look at what is around the corner. What does Ford have in mind for the Mustang? Looks like Carroll Shelby’s Mustang is back in 2016! A 5.2-liter screamer of a V-8. With more than 500 horses and maximum torque somewhere north of 400 lb-ft and an indicated red-line of a staggering 8200 rpm, it’s certainly a Ford engine unlike any other. There are songs about cars. T-Bird (Thunderbird) by the Beach boys. (FUN, FUN, FUN TILL HER DADDY TOOK THE T-BIRD AWAY … ). They also sang –Little Deuce Coupe. There are many songs about cars, but not as popular as the Beach Boys. I am showing my age. Metallica sang “FUEL”: a definite car guy. Mustang Sally is one special song. If you buy a Mustang some day, get a copy of Wilson Picket’s classic song “Mustang Sally” and play it on your inaugaral ride!!! Or for you old Mustang owners.

Throwback Thursday for Scrap Cars
This is perfect for celebrating scrap cars. Throwback relics you might say. Usually we are dealing with old relics or not so old smashed up cars. Actually we get very few crash cars. We do get a lot of tired old heaps that can’t take the road anymore. What’s your favorite throwback car? Some will say a Mustang; the most popular car the year it first arrived on the scene. It’s been revamped since 1962. But, the name remains the same.
The first Ford Mustang prototype was born in 1962. Father of the idea, Lee Iacocca, wanted a 4-seat sportscar, for less then $2500. from silodrome.com
This is an eye opener. Today, the first Ford Mustang sold to Public has $5.5 Million Price Tag.
The car was built on a Falcon chassis. Our first car was a Ford. A Ford Falcon that is. I remember that white car. We would drive to Pinery Park (Grand Bend) in hot summer days. After work, my dad rounded us up in the car and we went to the nearby quarries to go swimming. They had a sandy beach too. It was our first car. Before that, Dad used to walk to work. Sometimes, when I waited at the front porch, I’d see him get dropped off by the milk man –>home delivery. We were happy. Our first car! BEACH BLANKET BINGO: Don’t forget how muscle cars were at their prime. Remember Beach Blanket Bingo? 1965 was its debut. Frankie Avalon and Dee Dee (Annette Funicello) had their hot rods parked at the beach. The largest grossing movie the same year was The Sound of Music. But, I bet the largest grossing teen film had to be Beach Blanket Bingo. They went on to make eight fun beach movies. We all loved it. Gas was 28 cents a gallon (not litres) in Canada. The movie Beach Blanket Bingo was featured in “Good Morning Vietnam” starring Robin Williams. A classic, same as the Mustang. THE MUSTANG 2014 Let’s take a look at the 2014 Mustang. It still has similar lines to the original design. It fits right into today’s smaller designs. Even the Cadillac has trimmed the fat so to speak; small and chunky. The Mustang is still true to its size and style. A powerful muscle car Daddy-o!
