The CNE provides heart stopping, edible creations that are not for the faint of heart. Some of these coronary inducing indulgences are extreme interpretations on classic carnival fare, comfort foods, burgers and more.
FOOD BUILDING – CNE Tradition
As a foody, I had to find out what they are featuring at the Ex this year. Everyone goes to the Food Building. It’s a tradition. You can not miss it. It is located right neat the Go Train for all you suburbanites! I am not going to show you pictures of the CNE Food building. you can smell it and it is huge. Inside there is an eating area of picnic tables. You can walk around and see your favorite vendors. H.Salt Fish and Chips are really good. They have not changed their winning recipe. A good nosh. Burgers are always a hit. This year you will feast your eyes on “RED” burger buns. Reminds me of red velvet cup cakes. Franks Hot sauce adds that firey red glow to the buns. I am guessing red food colouring does the rest. Clever idea. I will get one and let you know how much fire is really in those burgers.
GAME OF THRONES
To celebrate the dark days of the Middle Ages, we give you the black funnel cake topped up with charcoal ice cream? I hope they are not using real charcoal.
BURNT PIZZA! If that isn’t enough, how about black, carbon-crust pizza by the slice. Only from Pizza Nova. And, only at the EX!
CRICKETS ANYONE? If that doesn’t scare you crunchy crickets might be just what you need for dessert. I am guessing they are real crickets. People say they don’t taste like crickets. What does that mean? It goes to show you that you cover anything with chocolate and it tastes good! My son said he ate a roasted cricket once and it tasted quite good. Crispy and crunchy. Yum!
Exciting fun food at the Canadian National Exhibition CNE —-This years fun food looks more like steam punk trending for Goth followers, or are we a bit early for Halloween? My money is on Franks red-hot burgers. Nah! H.Salt Fish and Chips. Back to my comfort food! My biggest food adventure I have had are a deep- fried pickles.
