The 12 DAYS of Christmas

There is an English song that starts like this “On the First day of Christmas my true love gave to me a partridge in a pear tree.”
The true origin of “The Twelve Days of Christmas” is from France ..Alas 3 French hens.. These songs have lasted throughout the ages. Twelve days of Christmas starts on boxing day or Christmas day. It depends what you read? They haven’t agreed on this one. You are allowed to continue your merriment for twelve more days after Dec25th. NICE! I don’t think I have ever practiced this long time tradition. What happens on the 12th day? The 12th day stops on January 6th. The 12th day is called the Epiphany. This has a religious meaning, described as the “vision of God”..a revelation that Jesus Christ is the son of God. That is an Epiphany. I had a basic understanding that epiphany was a sort of revelation of some sort. The origin was something I never thought about. Now I know. I am enlightened. I would rather have an epiphany..that’s more fun and dare I say a rare day!

Paul’s 12 Days of Christmas!
I think we need to revise this 12 days of Christmas. My “Personal” Twelve days as as follows. by the way. I’m starting on Christmas day.
DAY 1. On the first day of Christmas,
I will read “one” good book (start on it)
Day 2. I will enjoy two baked apples E-A-S-Y & Healthy!
Day 3. Walk three blocks (or 3km) another healthy idea!
Day 4. Scrap 4 cars
Day 5. Scrap 5 cars
Day 6. Scrap 6 cars
Day 7. Scrap 7 cars
Day 8. Scrap 8 cars
Day 9. Scrap 9 cars
Day 10. Scrap 10 cars
Day 11. Scrap 11 cars
Day 12. Scrap 12 cars

Rust never sleeps!

To coin a phrase from Wall Street “money never sleeps”. Rust never sleeps either. When I drove my VW, I could never pick up any girls. I think these tress growing out from abandoned ‘rusty’ VW’s is a good place for them. But, before rust starts to invade your vehicle, lets try and recycle it for new and useful products. Recycle plants evolved in the last two decades. They recycled the metal from your car and mold them into metal bars to be sent to various other plants. The metal is extracted and resold. Sometimes it goes right back into a new car. 97% of your vehicle will be recycled. Tires for paved roads, batteries for new batteries and bowling balls. If you are in the scrap car business you need to follow the market to see what scrap metal is selling at for that month. Higher prices you deserve more for the scrap metal. Lower prices..you still deserve more. Kidding! I heard the other day the Dow Jones index took another big drop. What does that mean to scrap metal prices? When prices are low, countries may still buy and store scrap metals for future use.

Scrap traders believe the market has certainly rebounded after the downtrend since the middle of September. Some Taiwanese traders attempt to up their bid prices to around US$400/ton.

Many countries in South East including Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia have started to purchase steel scrap for stock replenishment, boosting the scrap price to around US$415/ton C&F from America. C&F from America. However, the prices have been rejected by American suppliers.

I don’t think I can find the answer in the Farmers Almanac. According to the experts, we can safely ride the next three months. No great drops or heights are predicted to occur for 5-6 months.

GEORGIA on my Mind!
In 2010 In Garden City, Georgia, police video was released that showed a white car leading police (Officer Wayne Daniels) on a wild chase, performing seemingly impossible bursts of speed and ending when the vehicle appears to drive through a solid chain-link fence without smashing it open. http://youtu.be/JW_m3I99-dc. The matter was addressed in an episode of the Syfy television series, Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files, where in a stunt driver was able to recreate – through careful planning – the maneuver of driving under a fence that was secured only along the top .
I watched this video. It’s hard to say. Would the police go through an elaborate deception and why?

Visitors to China’s Green Dream Park-not far from the 2008 Olympics’ “Bird’s Nest” stadium-are currently being greeted by a 40-foot tall, six ton Optimus Prime made from five truckloads of car and truck spare parts. An awesome 33-foot-tall, 6 ton Optimus Prime replica is being shown at Beijing’s Olympic Park. Made from junked car parts and scrap metal parts, it is impressive.

The interesting irony of this unofficial knockoff is that if Transformers really existed this is probably what they would look like.
The park opens Friday, and features other environmentally friendly attractions designed to get visitors thinking green.

Is anyone listening?

I wanted to start by saying that I am overwhelmed by Social marketing. Facebook is here to stay and Twitter too. I heard of Twitter before it zoomed on the airwaves. Who would have thought? Geeks were using Twitter. The buzz started growing when I listened to my all-time favorite WebProNews talk about Twitter and how some people were going nuts. They couldn’t get off if it. Tweeting all day long. Aptly titled, because a bird’s chirps are short which defines the restriction in Twitter. You can’t be long winded. The other factors are that it’s free. F.R.E.E. I go on Twitter now and then and I truly get some good motivational quotes which I like to read. I like to find out if there’s something news worthy or local community events that I would be interested in seeing. Tree lighting is a good one, launching in the holiday season. There’s just way too much information. Some if it’s trashy. Too sales-y. I like to see what Tony Robbins is doing. He always interested me. Once in a while I’m somewhere on the Internet and there is a Facebook button to click. Do you want to share this in your Facebook account. Sure, why not? Just clog up the airways some more. Facebook did a really good job of creating a “community” for friends or people that you would like to see on your friend list. News blasts of special events. Say Happy Birthday. The marketing is sensational on Facebook. That new movie “Friends with Benefits” talks about Facebook. You hear about it on TV sitcoms all the time. News programs like the Agenda are on Twitter. They will tell you on the program. Send us a tweet tell us what you think of the show. Freedom of Speech. No more soap boxes. Let’s send a message On-line. If anyone’s listening? I’m Speaking NOW!!! I had to see it for myself~ I was thinking it was a scrolling banner.They gave you the code..copy/paste and said to add the banner to your blog. Good marketing on their part. You link to their site as well as the add you created. There are so many new ideas all the time. Everything is in the “SHARE” mode these days. Social sharing on the great Internet that is. Update your Facebook account. Add to twitter. Tweets and Facebook. They are synonymous now. On my Facebook account I can add a link to my twitter account. Copper is being trickled into the market for fear of prices dropping too low. The low grade copper is moving faster than the shiny copper “People don’t want to sell until they know that they have a full load to ship.”

A large group of Canadian auto wreckers and scrap metal recyclers will invest more than $50 million to build a 5,000-horsepower shredder in the greater Montreal area by September 2012.
What does that tell you? It is interesting. Looks like it’s a growing market to say the least.
Montreal is near the St. Lawrence River. As a matter of fact I came to Canada along this cold deep river on the Queen Mary. Looks like more ships passing in the night.

These are happy times for shipbuilders, as these mega-ship are priced at $100 million or more, the era of the mega-cargo ship is in full bloom.

Seeing is Believing?

Did you think you’ve seen just about everything. Then, something comes along that is so bizarre that if someone told you, you would not believe it unless you actually saw it with your own eyes. And, I did. I want to share this with you. I think its the funniest event I have seen. Its not funny, not really. Maybe I better stick to bizarre. Here it is. See for yourself.
